Effective Oct. 1, 2008, or as provided by individual contracts, Cognis Corp. is implementing price increases for products made with oleic acid and tall oil fatty acid.

Due to additional acrylic and vinyl toluene monomer price increases, OPC Polymers is adding charges ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 cents/lb. to existing monomer-modified products, effective with September shipments. Notifications by product will be sent directly to customers.

Cray Valley announced it is lifting sales control on its Norsolene® A series and S series hydrocarbon resins manufactured in its Channelview, TX, facility, effective immediately. The sales control was placed on the product in late May, affecting only customers in the Americas.

Effective Aug. 18, 2008, or as contract terms allow, Chemtura Corp. will increase prices on its range of bisphosphate, core and performance phosphate ester flame retardants, which includes its Reofos and Kronitex brands, by up to 50 percent in all regions.

Due to unprecedented increases in costs precipitated by record energy prices, Silberline is adding an energy surcharge of $0.20/pound to all invoices beginning on Sept. 15, 2008.

Citing significant and continuing advances in raw material, energy and transportation costs, INX International Ink Co. has announced an increase in ink prices of 10-12 percent across all product lines, effective Sept. 1.

Thomas Swan has implemented a surcharge, with immediate effect or as contracts permit, of GBP 0.10-0.15 per kilo on its range of Casamid polyamide resins, dependent on grade.

Tronox Inc. has announced that prices for all TRONOX® titanium dioxide (TiO2) grades sold in the Asia-Pacific region will increase by U.S. $200 per tonne, effective Sept. 1, 2008, or as contracts allow.

OMNOVA Solutions’ Specialty Chemicals business has announced a price increase of up to $0.05 per wet pound for acrylic, styrene acrylic and vinyl acrylic emulsion polymers.

The Dow Chemical Co. will raise prices in North America for products in the Oxygenated Solvents portfolio effective Sept. 1, 2008, or as contracts allow.
