The new BroadBeam® LE Series electron beam (EB) system from PCT Engineered Systems, launched at the RadTech UV & EB 2008 show on May 5, is designed to incorporate the proven benefits of EB in a smaller footprint and at a lower cost for web offset and CI flexo printing, laminating, and other specialty coatings and lacquers for package printing, as well as crosslinking and surface treatment.
Zinc-rich coatings based on zinc dust have been used on dams, bridges, ships, pipelines and other structures. However, problems associated with the manufacture, storage, handling, cost and application of these materials have limited their use. Advanced coatings containing a low-cost, highly conductive zinc flake material produce superior anticorrosion results compared to conventional zinc dust formulas. Additionally, the greater conductivity of the zinc powder allows the ratio of zinc metal-to-binder to be reduced, thereby lowering the cost of the coating.
DVUV, LLC has been selected for an Emerging Technology Award by RadTech International North America, the industry association formed to advance ultraviolet and electron beam (UV and EB) technology.
