In this experiment, NaSS showed the best performance in terms of mechanical stability, foaming and water absorption. This was attributed to the good polymerizability and surface activity of NaSS. But there is still room for improvement, especially water resistance.
Because of their versatility, methylene malonate monomers have shown potential in a wide variety of applications, such as one- and two-component clear coatings for automotive and industrial use, adhesives for packaging and industrial use, waterborne coatings and adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, encapsulated pigments, and composite binders.
In this article, we discuss the design of self-healing functionality into silicone-based protective materials to improve their ability to maintain adhesion after damage.
The work described is focused on studies demonstrating
the benefits in use of nano-particle dispersions, and extends to substrates such as wood, masonry, concrete, fiber cement, tile, floors and plaster.
Design of polyols with varying levels of recycled PET afforded insight into how this important recycled material ultimately affects end use performance of resulting polyols.
Despite the differences in film formation, novel technology in polymers for water-based sealers gives an improved balance of properties that is commercially acceptable for today’s concrete sealers. The new type of polymer is compared to conventional concrete sealers for key performance properties.
The European Coatings Show will focus on trends and technologies covering all aspects of the production of paints, coatings, sealants, construction chemicals and adhesives. For the first time, the show will extend into eight halls. Below is a snapshot of some of the technology that will be presented at this year's ECS.
In this article, we report on the evaluation of microcapsule-based self-healing functionality in a range of organic zinc-rich primers with a view towards assessing potential synergies between the maintenance of the coating's adhesion to the substrate after damage afforded by the incorporation of the self-healing additive.
As a peelable resin for metal protection, this resin proves that it is possible to deliver a coating that provides the corrosion protection, scratch protection and chemical resistance of a paint, but with the easy removal of a peelable coating.
Salt spray corrosion resistance provided from powder coatings for ACE applications can be improved by new superdurable polyesters for ß-hydroxy-alkyl-amide, triglycidyl-isocyanurate and the blend of diglycidylterephthalate with triglycidyltrimellitate developed by Allnex.
