Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD Auto Company Limited is set to establish its first European passenger car plant in Szeged, Hungary. To support the plant's painting operations, BYD has selected German company Dürr to provide the necessary technology.

Dürr will be supplying and installing over 120 robots for the plant's various painting lines. These robots will be equipped with the company's EcoBell3 atomizers, which are designed to deliver high-quality and sustainable painting. The robots will be used for both interior and exterior painting, with a focus on BYD's "New Energy Vehicles" (NEV).

In addition to the painting robots, Dürr will also be providing the necessary equipment for the plant's door, lid and flap opening processes. The company will be sending the robots to Hungary over the coming months.

BYD's decision to partner with Dürr is part of the company's broader strategy to expand its presence in the European market. The new plant in Szeged will be BYD's first passenger car factory in the region. The company is one of China's largest vehicle manufacturers and a market leader in electric vehicle sales.

Dürr's selection as the painting technology provider for the new plant is a significant win for the company. This is the first time Dürr has been chosen to supply painting technology for BYD's passenger car segment. The company was able to secure the contract after successfully completing an extensive audit process.

Dürr is known for its development and production of painting and application technology, working with automotive manufacturers to implement sustainable and efficient painting processes.
