GREENVILLE, SC – The Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) has established the AIMCAL Women’s Leadership Committee to help women from member companies gain more visibility within their organizations and across the converting industry by becoming active volunteers and mentors to the next generation of AIMCAL women.

The mission of the AIMCAL Women’s Leadership Committee is to:

  • Encourage women to be AIMCAL leaders through participation in activities such as technical committee membership, writing and presenting papers, conducting webinars, developing educational courses, and contributing content to Converting Quarterly;
  • Advance leadership skills by serving as a technical committee chair or technical advisor and/or assuming a seat on the board of directors; and
  • Sustain and grow the converting industry by increasing membership and mentoring the next generation of AIMCAL women.

“We want to encourage women to take more active roles within our industry, whether they are newcomers, mid-career or seasoned professionals,” said Milan Moscaritolo, President of AIMCAL. “AIMCAL is the ideal association for women to increase participation, grow networks and enhance professional reputations,” he added.

Charter members of the AIMCAL Women’s Leadership Committee include Ginger Cushing and Vicki Bakos, Nordmeccanica; Kat Cosentino, Alpha Engineered Composites; Liz Josephson, Applied Materials; Nessima Kaabeche, Emerson & Renwick; Stephanie Laurin, Worthen Industries; Tracey Messina, AIMCAL; and Sarah Williams, Sputtering Components. Cushing of Nordmeccanica chairs the committee. She said, “We encourage each member company to invite one representative to be on the committee. We also will reach out to nonmember companies to recruit new members.”

Cushing said, “The group will have monthly teleconferences and meet at the R2R Conference USA (Oct. 18-21, 2020, Orlando, Florida). We’ll coordinate with the technical committees to recruit and contribute technical papers as well as organize sessions. We may run our own track with content specific to the interests of women and leadership. In addition to face-to-face meetings, we have excellent tools for remote engagement including AIMCAL TV and Converting Quarterly.”
