European nanodiamond producer Carbodeon has been granted a Chinese patent for its technology that enables detonation-synthesized diamond particles (nanodiamonds) to be combined with polymers for use in fields such as personal electronics, LED lighting, automotive components and machine tools.
The improvement in coating performance comes in part from the presence of the hardwearing nanodiamond particles integrated into the polymers, but there is also a change in the overall structure of the coating.
Carbodeon has developed a thermal filler using nanodiamonds that increases the conductivity of thermally conductive polymers by 25 percent, providing significant performance increases for polymers used in electronics and LED manufacturing.
