Federal, state and local regulatory agencies such as OSHA and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have begun heavily enforcing lead poisoning prevention and worker safety standards for contractors, landlords, and facilities such as daycare centers and schools.  

Renovations of homes and child-occupied facilities built prior to 1978 must be performed by certified contractors using lead-safe work practices.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced 16 enforcement actions for violations of the lead-based paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP).
