The Eastern Michigan University faculty-student research team has been awarded a U.S. patent for organic-inorganic hybrid materials that can potentially replace hazardous heavy metals used in the metal finishing industry, according to Vijay Mannari, director of Coatings Research Institute at EMU.
The polymers enable the measuring of available deposit-control agents in water treatment systems and the reduction of polymer and water usage during treatment, enhancing the environmental footprint of operations.
