If you are holding this June issue of PCI in your hands, it will be the last print issue of our magazine that you will receive. And if you are reading this issue in our digital edition format, you are already a part of our future. PCI’s parent company, BNP Media, recently made the announcement that it will be converting all of its print magazines to digital editions, delivered via e-mail, beginning with our July 2020 issue. PCI will still be printed and distributed at key industry events.
Caysey Welton, Content Director at Folio, wrote an article to publishers on April 30, stating that under our “new normal,” success will be defined by those who focus on long-term sustainability over short-term profits. An excerpt from his article states, “The future of your business is digital. This is a truth a lot of our peers have all been lying to themselves about for at least a decade…I’m talking about diversified digital businesses. …Those who continue to hitch their wagons to their legacy models and repudiate change, may not make it at all.”
This is not a new concept to BNP Media, which has been working tirelessly over the last several years to build its digital presence with diversified offerings – digital magazines being just one of them. In addition to receiving information from us via our monthly digital magazine, you can look forward to seeing a variety of new digital messages from us and our advertisers in unique ways.
Many of our print subscribers may have noticed that they began receiving our digital magazine in their e-mail inbox when the COVID-19 pandemic began. In an effort to ensure that all of our readers are still able to enjoy the news, articles and the latest supplier technology while working from home, we began sending the digital magazine to those print subscribers that we have e-mail addresses for.
If you haven’t received an e-mail from us with a link to the digital edition, we probably don’t have your e-mail address. So it is important that if you want to continue receiving PCI each month in a digital format, you visit www.pcimag.com/digitaleditions, select the link to subscribe at the top of the page, and add or update your account. You can also check out our archived digital editions while you’re there.
You’ll notice with this issue that in preparation for going digital we have made some cosmetic changes for easier online reading, such as an increased font size. When you experience our digital edition for the first time, you have the ability to download the full edition in PDF format if you’d like, print specific pages, search for keywords, make notes on the pages, e-mail an article and issue links to colleagues, and a lot more. If you run into questions regarding navigation or other functionalities, a quick tutorial is available by accessing Help through the More menu (three dots) in the bottom right corner of the screen. And if you want to zoom in closer to the content, double-click on the page and use the red + and - buttons that appear to resize the page to suit your needs.
If you have any questions on how to sign up for our digital edition if you aren’t already receiving it, feel free to e-mail me at kristin@pcimag.com!
