Brewer Science, a provider of leading-edge materials and processes to the semiconductor industry, has released the first commercially available microelectronics-grade carbon nanotube (CNT) coating. A breakthrough in the refinement of the carbon nanotube material reportedly enables the removal of metallic and carbonaceous contaminants.
PPG Industries Australia Pty. Ltd., a subsidiary of PPG Industries, has reached agreement to acquire Barloworld Coatings Australia, the architectural paint unit of South African-based Barloworld, Ltd. In a separate transaction, PPG Industries has made an offer to purchase SigmaKalon Group, a worldwide coatings producer based in Uithoorn, Netherlands, from global private investment firm Bain Capital.
Rohm and Haas will build a new manufacturing facility in the Moscow region. The proposed plant will produce polymer emulsions for a number of markets, including paint and coatings materials, and adhesives.

Wheelabrator Group will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its LaGrange, Ga., facility in September. The LaGrange location opened on Sept. 21, 1987, and it is the home of Wheelabrator Plus, the aftermarket-sales division that provides a full range of services, replacement parts and training.
Zircotec, based in Harwell, UK, has appointed Terry Graham to become its managing director. Fellow executive Peter Whyman is now solely dedicated to Zircotec’s automotive division.
Jo Lennartz, formerly general manager of Akzo Nobel’s Functional Chemicals business, will become the new director of technology for Akzo Nobel, effective September 1. His new role will include establishing links and interacting with relevant external technology and science communities, as well as leading the development of the technology community within Akzo Nobel.
