The Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI) presented its first President's Award to long-time member Dave Wright of Nalco. This award has been established by the CCAI National Board of Directors to honor a member who goes above and beyond to serve the association and the finishing industry.

X-Rite Inc., Grandville, Mich., and Amazys Holding AG, Regensdorf, Switzerland, two leading providers of color-measurement solutions comprising hardware, software and services for the verification and communication of color data, have entered into a definitive agreement under which X-Rite will offer to purchase all of the outstanding registered shares of Amazys Holding AG for a purchase price of approximately $280 million or CHF 77 per share plus 2.11 shares of X-Rite stock per share.

Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries began construction of a facility in Taiwan that will apply the company's electrocoat and dip-spin coatings to fasteners and small parts. The PPG-owned facility will operate under the name Alltech Engineered Finishes.

Sherwin-Williams Co., Cleveland, promoted George Diver to vice president of marketing for the Chemical Coatings Division. Diver joined Sherwin-Williams in 1975 and has held a number of senior positions with the company, including vice president, sales and operations, Duron; vice president, sales for the Eastern Division; district manager in Cleveland, Seattle and Flint; wholesale marketing director; and a number of sales and marketing positions in Chemical Coatings

Troy Corp., Florham Park, N.J., announced that higher costs for key raw materials, packaging, transportation, regulatory compliance and energy related products and services make it necessary to increase prices for certain Polyphase products effective February 20, 2006, and as contracts allow.
