At Booth 1105, Momentive Performance Materials Inc. is introducing CoatOSil FLX coating modifier, a new, patent-pending product that canimprove coating flexibility while also maintaining or even enhancing corrosion resistance and gloss retention, helping to mitigate the embrittlement issues that often plague present silane-cured hybrid coatings. With this new technology, coating formulators may no longer have to sacrifice critical properties when seeking increased flexibility in a coating.

As an added benefit, the improved flexibility can produce a stronger, more protective coating, and the greater resistance to UV degradation allows the coating to look new longer. The technology can also help improve formulating latitude. Inherently low in viscosity, CoatOSil FLX is easy to mix into coating formulations; it can be incorporated into the grind paste or as a post-addition with comparable efficacy. CoatOSil FLX coating modifier may be considered for low-VOC and HAPs coating systems.
