CLEVELAND - In 2014, the Cleveland Coatings Society celebrates its 100th year, and the theme for the 2014 Sink or Swim symposium, “A Century of Innovation,” honors that anniversary. Abstracts for podium and poster presentations are now being accepted for the annual technical symposium, which will be held June 3-4, 2014, at the Airport Marriott Hotel, Cleveland.

Historical retrospectives and current research are welcomed. Time allotted for each speaker will be 25 minutes for the actual presentation and five minutes for questions. Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail to SOS@ClevelandCoatingsSociety.org. The deadline for submission of abstracts is February 28, 2014.

The following program sessions are being considered: polymers and resins, novel technologies, corrosion science, formulator techniques and design of experiments, pigments and pigment dispersions, additives, and product stewardship and regulatory affairs.

Suggested topics include green sustainable technologies, architectural coatings, nano-coatings, compliant coatings, functional coatings, raw materials, surfactants, additives, improved corrosion resistance, emulsion polymerization, new polymer technologies, wood coatings, VOC/HAPs/RoH issues, analysis and characterization of coatings, failure analysis, automotive coatings, process and manufacturing, industrial maintenance, coatings for plastics, color technology, and industry trends.
