PITTSBURGH – The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA), a trade association representing batch, custom and specialty chemical manufacturers, has awarded LANXESS Corp.’s Baytown, TX, facility its 2013 Silver Award for Product Stewardship. The award recognizes LANXESS' Baytown facility for its achievements in improving its environmental, health, safety and security. The honor is given as part of SOCMA’s annual Performance Improvement Awards, sponsored by ChemStewards®, SOCMA’s EHS&S initiative. This is the sixth year LANXESS’ Baytown facility has received this award from SOCMA.
LANXESS participates in SOCMA’s ChemStewards program, which encourages companies to operate their facilities in an environment that guarantees safety and environmental compliance to all stakeholders.
The Advanced Industrial Intermediates (AII) business unit’s production site in Baytown, TX, was recognized for its successful efforts to provide customers, distributors and other product receivers with information on the safe use, transport and disposal of chemicals.
