BARRINGTON, IL - Bruce Allen Johnson passed away on October 21, 2013, in Barrington, IL, after a three-and-a-half-year battle with brain cancer.

Johnson graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in inorganic chemistry in 1976 and then pursued his masters at the University of Minnesota. He worked for the Valspar Corp. for 34 years, most recently as a Technical Director. During his long tenure with Valspar, he received a number of awards and was named on several patents. He was also a member of the Chicago Society for Coatings Technology.

Johnson is survived by his wife, Diane, and his three children, Drew (Natalia), Adam and Tessa Rose. He is also survived by his mother, a brother and a sister. He was preceded in death by his father.
