CARY, NC - Arkema Coating Resins, a business unit of Arkema Inc., has two new products for the coatings industry.
Synaqua® 4804 waterborne alkyd offers solvent-like performance in an alkyd emulsion binder that can be used in low-VOC formulations. It is an APEO- and ammonia-free short oil alkyd emulsion designed for use in a variety of coatings in which performance similar to solvent-based alkyds is desired. It offers the coatings formulator a low-VOC option to develop high-gloss products with the application feel of a solvent-based alkyd. Benefits include: high-gloss potential and excellent gloss retention, good hardness, quick dry time, low yellowing, good stability with anticorrosive pigments, good application characteristics, and excellent performance in blends with other technologies, including styrene acrylics, acrylics, and polyurethane dispersions.
SNAP® 728 structured nano-acrylic polymer offers the widest formulating latitude and improved performance in the company’s SNAP binder line. It offers outstanding block resistance and enamel-like hardness across a wide range of sheens, from satin to high gloss. Benefits include: superior block resistance and enamel-like hardness compared to standard acrylic binders, outstanding dirt pickup resistance, improved scrub resistance in semi-gloss formulations compared to SNAP 720 binder, low odor, and EnVia® certification to support sustainable formulating.
