MINNEAPOLIS/ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands - BioAmber Inc. and IMCD Group announced a new distribution agreement in which IMCD will distribute BioAmber’s biobased succinic acid (Bio-SATM) in the Benelux, France, Iberia, Germany, Poland, Southeast Europe, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom and Ireland, targeting customers in the resins and coatings market.
IMCD has a strong commitment to sustainability, with the reduction of CO2 emissions one of its top corporate priorities. The company has worked on supply-chain excellence and emission reductions for several years, and is committed to cutting its CO2 emissions by at least 20 percent. IMCD Group is the first distributor to be awarded the Lean & Green award, part of the innovation program Sustainable Logistics by Connekt, an independent network of companies and authorities.
BioAmber currently supplies Bio-SA from a production facility in Pomacle, France, and plans to expand capacity in 2014 with a 30,000 MT capacity plant in Sarnia, Canada. Made from renewable feedstock, Bio-SA has a more favorable carbon footprint (field to gate) than petroleum succinic acid and is one of the few bio-based chemicals currently available at a commercial scale. In resins and coatings applications, BioAmber Bio-SA enables formulation flexibility and the opportunity to develop tailored properties that offer performance in more sustainable solutions.
