AKRON, OH - Union Process Inc., a manufacturer of particle size reduction and dispersing equipment, recently offered a tour of its lab and production plant to a group of University of Akron graduate students studying geosciences and fine metal powder mechanical alloying, also known as "cold-welding".
University of Akron Professor Dr. Lingren L. Chyi has built a strong relationship with the long-time Akron-based company. "This course deals primarily with the concentration of metals found in the crust of the earth and how we extract them and use them to create products," commented Chyi. "I thought it would be valuable for the class to see how this process happens in the real world by visiting with the lab personnel at Union Process. They were very gracious and provided an excellent overview of the technical aspects of Attrition milling and why their equipment works so well in the metal powder industry."
Union Process is the inventor and developer of Attritor technology and manufactures wet and dry grinding mills as well as horizontal bead mills.
