WALLINGFORD, CT - Evonik is donating $5,000 to four emergency response departments in the Wallingford, CT, area, the Wallingford Fire Department, the Wallingford Police Department, the Emergency Department at MidState Medical Center and Wallingford Medical Reserve Corps, following Hurricane Sandy’s destruction.
“During the storm, these four emergency response departments played a crucial role in everyone’s safety and assisted with the recovery efforts in Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath,” said Peter Stein, Wallingford Site Manager. “We are grateful for their hard work and dedication and would like to support these departments. Our contribution is a symbol of gratitude to the men and women who risk their lives to serve our community.”
In recent years, Evonik has provided relief and direct rebuilding efforts following natural disasters such as hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike on the U.S. Gulf Coast, as well as tsunami and earthquakes in Asia Pacific.
The products manufactured at Evonik’s Wallingford facilities include specialty plastics found in a variety of applications such as medical devices, lenses and lighting, automotive components, marine navigation signals, and food and medical packaging.
