Richard Flecksteiner of Omnova Solutions gave a presentation Tuesday titled Waterborne Wet-Look Sealer for Concrete using EBS Technology. Due to the polymer particles not being able to penetrate deeply into the surface of the concrete to bring out the deep wet look of a solventborne polymer, waterborne wet-look sealers are not comparable in appearance with solventborne sealers. Through the use of Emulsified Binder System (EBS) technology, Omnova has been able to achieve a wet look similar to a solventborne sealer in a waterborne system with a VOC of less than 100 g/L. Flecksteiner discussed both the development of the polymer and the EBS.
