Evonik’snational marketing initiative and theme at the ACS is, “We love your problems.”   Evonik's Inorganic Materials Business Unit is featuring several coatings raw material technology options based on their silica and silanes expertise. These include ACEMATT®3600 matting agent, polymer-treated precipitated silica specifically developed for 100% radiation-curable and UV coatings; as well as ACEMATT 3300 matting agent for air- and heat-cured coatings requiring high clarity and haptic enhancement. In addition, the latest developments for enhanced rheological improvement and corrosion protection in primers and barrier coatings are featured using AEROSIL®R972, AEROSIL R812S and AERODISP®WR 8520. Lastly, AERODISP W7520 is highlighted as a solution for the coatings formulator to improve film formation and suspension behavior in latex emulsion systems.

The Functional Silanes team of Evonik is presenting Dynasylan® SIVO® 160, a new defined and storage-stable waterborne silane sol-gel system that acts as an excellent binder for the formulation of metal treatment systems. Defined waterborne sol-gel systems based on silanes are very promising for the treatment of metal substrates. They can react with the metal surface and can passivate the substrate. The water-based systems offer an extremely low VOC level, offering maximum corrosion protection without the use of chromium (VI), and resulting adhesion can be improved.
