PORTLAND, OR – On April 22, more than one billion people and organizations from around the world will take part and show appreciation of the planet with a demand to protect it and its natural resources. PaintCare of Oregon celebrates Earth Day with the success of collecting over 700,000 gallons of latex and oil-based paint from consumer and contractor painting projects throughout the state since its inception back in July 2010.
Due to Oregon’s success, PaintCare looks ahead to future implementation of the program in additional states. The same legislation passed for California in 2010, whose statewide program will launch this year. Connecticut passed the legislation for the program in 2011 and will launch throughout the state in 2013.
Since Earth Day 2011, Oregon has added an additional 22 PaintCare collection sites where the public can bring leftover paint for recycling, reuse and energy recovery. Earth Day 2012 marks a total of 100 sites established throughout the state.
