Cabot, a brand within the architectural coatings division of The Valspar Corporation, has launched a revamped website to help professionals and consumers navigate wood stain product needs from start to finish. The site houses project ideas, do-it-yourself tips and information on the company’s wood care products.

The site is divided into four sections: Ideas and Projects, Colors and Finishes, Do It Yourself and Find Products. Whenever possible, the sidebar points to supplemental information such as color options, quick tips or product recommendations.

Under the “Ideas and Projects” section, project ideas for floors, decks, fences, furniture and siding are presented. The section also highlights an “Ultimate Project,” where visitors can submit or follow the transformation of a dream project complete with before and after photos. Additionally, visitors can learn about exotic wood species like Coumarou, Ipè and Tigerwood.

The “Colors and Finishes” section allows visitors to learn more about opacity and color selection when selecting exterior and interior stains. Exterior stains are categorized as clear and translucent, solid, semi-solid and semi-transparent while interior stains are sorted by custom tint, ready mix and polystain. Each selection is accompanied by a real color photo of the stain on an actual piece of wood to provide visitors to the site with visuals of real world applications.

The “Do It Yourself” section outlines tips for every step of the wood care process – prepping, staining and protecting – and demonstrates Cabot’s commitment to holistic wood care. The section contains downloadable PDF tip sheets and Technical Bulletins that address a wide variety of topics such as common causes of peeling, choosing a color and fighting mold and mildew.

Finally, the “Find Products” section is the ultimate product library for both exterior and interior products from surface preparation products to staining products to protective coatings. Each product description includes a can shot, quick facts, safety information and downloadable PDF product information.
