698 and 699 TPC-HS, two new high-solids topcoats from Salcomix, BASF Coatings AG’s industrial paint brand, are designed to be applied easily and economically while offering a high degree of UV, gloss and color stability. The high-gloss 698 2K acrylic topcoat, like its semi-glossy sibling 699, is available in neutral or full white. The new topcoats can be used with any spray equipment available on the market and can be applied quickly and safely. According to BASF, the coatings require 20 to 30% less material compared to MS topcoats. Both topcoats reportedly dry well and offer excellent hiding power and a high spreading rate. The semi-glossy 699 topcoat can be used for both smooth and textured surface finishing results as desired. Depending on the spraying technique, various textured surface effects can be achieved for enhanced decoration or for smoothing out rough areas on the substrate.
