The new OptiMix™ Metering System from Nordson Corp.’s Industrial Coating Systems division combines electronic metering technology with touch-screen controls for an easy introduction to mixing of two-component materials. The system works with a range of coatings, viscosities and flow rates; provides real-time data download capability; and is available in two- and three-component configurations.
According to the company, the system uses flow meters and valves to provide excellent ratio control and adjustability for coating operation. Each system is custom built for the application and can control up to 32 materials with a mixing accuracy of +/- 1%. The system's software can save up to 50 mixing recipes. Each recipe saves the number of the A and B component, mixing ratio, and material pot life. An electronic pressure regulation kit can be added to the system to save time by spraying, flushing and filling the unit at higher pressures.
The system is compatible with several paint supply types, such as dual-diaphragm pumps, pressure tanks and piston pumps. It also works with a variety of automatic and manual application equipment including airless, air-assisted airless, HVLP, air spray and rotary atomizers, electrostatic and non-electrostatic spray guns.
