Techni Neutredox, a patented, neutral pH cleaning/activation process from Technic, is designed for advanced electroplating applications. The product reduces surface oxides, thereby improving electrodeposition onto the treated surface without exposure to substrate damaging acidic or alkaline solutions. Potential applications include wafer level packaging (WLP) and silicon-based photovoltaic cells.
“Cleaning of metal substrates at near neutral pH has traditionally been very ineffective. Electroplating metals onto improperly prepared surfaces result in defects such as adhesion failures and other issues. Techni Neutredox resolves this issue by passing current through the neutral pH solution, successfully reducing and removing surface oxides while activating conductive portions without affecting the nonconductive portions,” said Rob Schetty, co-inventor and vice president of Technic’s Advanced Technology Division.
