Dalton Electric Heating Co., Inc.: Watt-Flex® Split-Sheath Cartridge Heaters are designed to provide maximum heat transfer, with no cool spots, for applications where an even temperature profile is critical. The heaters feature a continuous coil inserted into an Incoloy® tube, insulated with magnesium oxide, and formed into semi-circular sections that are bent together; creating a round insertion heater. Providing an even heat profile up to 1,850°F, this design lets each half of the heater expand independently outward against the walls of the surrounding bore for maximum heat transfer, even in oversized bores, and will not warp.
Manufactured to specification in 1/4 to 1 in. and 8 to 25 mm diameters up to 90 in. long, the heaters contract when de-energized for easy installation and removal. Their continuous coil reportedly allows tips to be cool or fully heated, and they can incorporate a wide variety of heater accessories, mounting variations, lead modifications and other options.
