BASF AG received the 2007 European Coatings Award for its new AQAGloss dispersion-based binder for high-gloss water-based coatings. Paints based on the binder can meet stringent environmental standards (specifically EU Directive 2004/42/EC and emissions tests based on the guidelines of Germany’s Committee for Health-Related Evaluation of Building Products - AgBB).

BASF AG received the 2007 European Coatings Award for its new AQAGloss dispersion-based binder for high-gloss water-based coatings. Paints based on the binder can meet stringent environmental standards (specifically EU Directive 2004/42/EC and emissions tests based on the guidelines of Germany’s Committee for Health-Related Evaluation of Building Products - AgBB), since the binder contains only small amounts of film-forming auxiliaries. In addition, it contains no heavy metals (driers). Paints containing the binder reportedly form a crystal-clear, tack-free film at room temperature and can achieve haze-free, high-gloss surfaces previously associated only with solvent-based alkyd resin coatings.
