ADM EnviroStrip®, a starch-based dry media for paint stripping, has received recognition. The Aircraft Repair and Supply Center at the U.S. Coast Guard's Elizabeth City, NC, base was presented a 2006 White House Closing the Circle award for its use of the environment-friendly technique. The EnviroStrip product line consists of bio-based media used in place of chemicals and plastic media for removing coatings on aircrafts and aircraft components because they cause less damage to aluminum and composite surfaces. The award, sponsored by the White House Task Force on Waste Prevention and Recycling, is given to federal employees and their facilities for efforts that result in significant contributions to environmental stewardship.
