The Institute of Tribology and Coatings (ITC), a nonprofit collaborative organization of universities, national laboratories, technical societies and established companies across an array of industries, has won a $68,000 High Technology School-to-Work grant from the state of Illinois. With resources provided from the grant, ITC will train individuals from Indian Valley Vocational Center and Waubonsee Community College to transition from school to high-skilled, high-paying jobs. The grant is part of Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich's High Technology School-to-Work Initiative and is administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).
Through the program, ITC will train participating students in high-tech areas, such as information technology, technical support, advanced materials, and advanced manufacturing in multiple sectors, including aerospace, automotive, transportation and energy.
