Cross-linker Helps Weather Resistance
Primid QM-1260 hydroxyalkylamide cross-linker is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of approximately 105°C. It is recommended for high-performance weather-resistant polyester powder coatings. It has excellent gas oven stability and can be used to reduce discoloration under critical curing conditions. The cross-linker's high initial whiteness improves the quality of white polyester powder coatings.

Resin for
Low-Temperature Cure
Fine-Clad M-8950 resin cures at temperatures as low as 250°F. Suitable for
exterior applications, it exhibits excellent weathering resistance in formulated
powder coatings. It remains free-flowing when stored at 40°C for up to 1 month,
reducing blocking problems. Applications include thermally sensitive substrates
such as wood and plastics. Coatings formulated with the resin have end-uses
including interior and exterior metal parts, automotive underhood parts, and
lawn and garden equipment.

Cross-linkers Have Fast
Cure Cycle, Reactivity
Vestagon EP BF 1310 and 1320 cross-linkers are internally blocked via a
uretdione linkage. They exhibit a fast cure cycle, fast reactivity and good
processability. The 1310 cross-linker includes a flow additive for smoother
films. The 1320 product is similar, but without a flow additive; it is suitable
for clearcoats.

Curing Agent for Low
Temperatures
Hardener XB 3086 curing agent is suitable for epoxy powder coatings with cure
temperatures as low as 120°C. It is compatible with solid bisphenol-A-based
epoxy resins and epoxy phenol novolac-modified solid epoxy resins. Powder
coating formulations developed with this curing agent cure rapidly at standard
cure temperatures of about 200°C. Heat-sensitive substrates such as wood,
medium-density fiberboard, plastics and plywood may be powder coated using the
low-temperature-cure option. At higher temperatures, cure cycles can be reduced
by 3 to 4 minutes for coil coatings, pipe, rebar and other less
temperature-sensitive substrates.

Sieves Have Vibrating
Ultrasonic Mesh Deblinding Systems
Compact 900 Series sieves are fitted with Vibrasonic mesh deblinding systems.
The systems combine conventional vibration and ultrasonics. An ultrasonic
frequency is applied directly to the separator mesh, breaking down surface
tension and eliminating friction from the wires. This eliminates mesh blinding
and maintains product consistency. Benefits include reduced downtime and
maintenance, extended screen life and increased throughput.

Green-Shade Yellow
Pigment
Engeltone 1207 green-shade yellow pigment is recommended for powder coatings. It
is greener than Pigment Yellow 194 pigments and similar in shade and strength to
Pigment Yellow 16. It is stable to 495ºF and has excellent lightfastness. It
can also be used in solventborne and waterborne formulations.

Low-Temperature Cure
Resins/Curing Agents
Albester polyester resins and Alcure curing agents provide low-temperature cure
for powder coatings. This patented technology pushes the limits for
low-temperature cure. Albester 3470, for example, has cure capabilities in the
range of 280°F.

Separators Replace
Centrifugal Sifters
Round separators with Sono-Energy systems replace centrifugal sifters. Fine mesh
screening is possible because powder particles are prevented from clinging and
mesh blinding is eliminated. For light-density powders, the ultrasonic vibration
prevents "pancaking" and "glazing." For heavy-density powders, lodging
and wedging of near-size particles is greatly reduced. For electrostatically
charged particles, the clinging effect of small, nonmetallic particles is
minimized. Benefits include increased screen life, easy screen changes and
controlled particle-size ranges.
