EQUIPMENT: Ultrafiltration Module
Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. (KMS): A new 10" diameter KPAK™ ultrafiltration module for the electrocoat industry is designed to provide increased efficiencies that significantly reduce required floor space, installation time and operating costs. The module consists of a spiral-wound membrane element containing 462 ft2 (42.9 m2) of membrane area, which is double that of the 8" KPAK module that has been available for several years. The company reports that the new 10" design achieves a higher permeate output relative to paint feed than other spiral membranes. The virtually zero bypass design results in lower paint feed flow requirements and, consequently, additional savings in equipment costs because the system uses smaller pumps, less piping and fewer filters.
