MATERIALS: Waterborne CARCs
Sherwin-Williams Chemical Coatings: MIL-DTL-64159 Type II Waterborne CARC is a new generation of waterborne chemical agent resistant coatings (CARCs) for use by the military and defense industry. The two-component waterborne polyurethane coatings reportedly offer superior exterior durability compared to previous CARC products, lower volatile organic compounds (VOCs) (1.8 lb/gal) and a long wet edge that eliminates dry spray. In addition, the coatings are designed to provide excellent film build using up to 30% less coating for a material savings. The coatings have low odor, are non-flammable, are compatible with electrostatic application, and provide a durable, flexible finish with longer exterior durability when compared to other CARC products. The products meet the strict requirements of the U.S. armed forces and are listed on the Qualified Products List (Q.P.L.) published by the Army Research Lab.
