Robert L. Nelson, 76, of Moline, IL, a long-time member and board member of CCAI who worked as a paint and decal chemist at Deere and Co., died September 4. Nelson was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1946 to 1948, and a graduate of Augustana College. He retired as pastor of Green River United Methodist Church in 1998, after serving 34 years. He was a member of several social organizations. He was on the Moline City Council, was chair of the planning commission for the City of Moline, and a board member of Skills Inc. Survivors include his wife, Patience Nelson; son, Eric Nelson; daughters, Nancy Michl, Martha Huntley and Diana Cavazos; and grandchildren, Jason, Evan, Brett and Brian Nelson, Elisha Cavazos Arguello and Josh Cavazos, Rachel, Alex and Sarah Michl.
