BASF Automotive Refinish announced that Richard Petty, famed NASCAR driver and one of the most respected figures in motorsports, has converted Petty’s Garage to BASF R-M® Onyx HD™ waterborne paint.
SOUTHFIELD, MI – BASF Automotive Refinish announced that Richard Petty, famed NASCAR driver and one of the most respected figures in motorsports, has converted Petty’s Garage to BASF R-M® Onyx HD™ waterborne paint. Petty is known in racecar circles for a trademark shade of blue color that is prominent on his racing automobiles. “Petty Blue” was born out of necessity when he ran out of paint and mixed two different colors to finish a job.
Petty’s conversion to R-M Onyx HD waterborne offers customers of the high-performance shop a waterborne basecoat system that combines ease of use and durability with superb color matching, while staying in compliance with VOC regulations. The conversion is also good for the shop - from the inside out. “As a long-time user of BASF, I trust the R-M line of paints and coatings for my cars. I am proud to offer Petty’s Garage customers and employees a lower-VOC option in the Onyx HD waterborne,” said Petty.
The first car to be painted with Onyx HD waterborne at Petty’s Garage is another first: the first Richard Petty Signature Series Mustang.
