AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - The Supervisory Board of Akzo Nobel N.V. announced that Hans Wijers, Chief Executive Officer, has decided to step down in 2012, effective as of the 2012 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Ton Büchner has been selected as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, pending AGM approval, effective as of the 2012 AGM. Büchner is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Swiss multinational Sulzer AG.
