MONTREAL, Canada - Atrion International has announced its support of REACH Annex II Safety Data Sheets (SDS) with the release of its Intelligent Authoring (IA) version 4.2. The new version enables the creation of Extended Safety Data Sheets, supplemented with translated Exposure Scenarios in all European languages, and SDS with the new required formats and content to support the Classification, Labeling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation.

REACH Annex II outlines new details for compliance with regulations specifying format and content of SDS in Europe and the requirements for manufacturers to create Extended Safety Data Sheets.

Exposure Scenarios combine information on measures to take to control risks associated with activities performed with chemicals. In order for this critical information to be understandable and applicable by downstream users, Atrion provides the ability for these exposure scenarios to be translated in a standard format in all European languages. This enables companies to meet REACH's requirement that all registered substances have Safety Data Sheets annexed with Exposure Scenarios.

In addition, REACH Annex II introduces format and content requirements for the CLP regulation, providing a new SDS template to reclassify and communicate hazards under a new classification scheme. Atrion's IA 4.2 allows for the creation of SDS according to the new CLP regulation for substances and mixtures.

IA 4.2 also enables the creation of Chinese SDS in line with GB 13690-2009 on classification and hazard communication and GB 15258-2009 on labeling.
