PITTSBURGH - Bayer MaterialScience LLC is one of the first raw materials suppliers to get on board the Master Painters Institute® Inc.’s (MPI) Starting Point Program. With the listing, Bayer MaterialScience LLC customers are now in a position to save time, money and resources due to the company’s participation in this new testing program for resin or additive technologies.
Results of the MPI testing are as follows: the guide formula based on Bayhydrol® UH 2593/1 polyurethane dispersion passed MPI 128, a standard pertaining to a water-based, clear, satin-like finish for interior wood; the guide formula based on Bayhydrol AH XP 2741 acrylic dispersion passed MPI 129, a standard for a water-based, clear, semi-gloss finish for interior wood; and the guide formula based on Bayhydrol UH 2557 polyurethane dispersion passed MPI 197, a standard pertaining to a water-based, high-gloss finish for exterior wood.
For nearly a decade, MPI has set the standards in architectural coatings; it is the government’s designated source for architectural coatings standards and approvals, as well as AIA (American Institute of Architects) MasterSpec’s® source for paint systems and approved products. MPI designed the Starting Point Program to help coating raw materials suppliers accelerate acceptance of their most strategic resin or additive technologies by letting MPI provide independent, industry-recognized verification that formulations based on their products meet MPI’s highest performance standards.
