ESSEN, Germany – Evonik Industries has completed and brought on stream a large complex for polymers, plastics intermediates and coating systems in Shanghai, China. The facility supplies intermediates that are used in the production of environmentally friendly coatings and lightweight plastic parts for vehicles.

With an annual capacity of about 100,000 metric tons of MMA, the complex also includes plants for production of methacrylic acid, butyl methacrylate, hydroxy esters, specialty monomers, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) molding compounds and thermoplastic methacrylate resins.
