ROLLA, MO - The University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR) has changed its name to Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T). As part of that change, the UMR Coatings Institute will be renamed the MS&T Coatings Institute. The new name is intended to more accurately describe the university’s focus.
The name change will not change the educational programs at MS&T but will help students identify the university as a technological and science-based campus. With the aid of the FSCT, NPCA, as well as the St. Louis and Kansas City Coatings Societies, the university will be increasing its recruitment of coatings students from the region and nationally.
As part of the new name, all websites and e-mail addresses for the university will change. The e-mail for the UMR Coatings Institute will be coatings@mst.edu; the new website address will be http://coatings.mst.edu.
The MS&T Coatings Institute has also announced its 2008 short courses. “Basic Composition of Coatings” will be offered March 24-28 and September 15-19 in Rolla, MO. “Introduction to Paint Formulation” will be given on May 19-23 and November 3-7 in Rolla, and “Introduction to Coatings Composition and Specifications” will be held on July 14-16 in St. Louis, MO. Details on these courses can be found at http://coatings.mst.edu. To register, e-mail coatings@mst.edu.
