BERN, Switzerland - Ciba and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich have won the Swiss Chemical Society’s (www.swisschemistry.ch) prestigious Sandmeyer Prize, reflecting the exemplary collaboration between their research teams.
The teams jointly developed environmentally compatible and cost-effective new methods of synthesizing phosphorus-based photoinitiators. The photoinitiators allow coatings and composites without solvents to be cured in fractions of a second on brief exposure to light.
