In April 2006, Cimbar Performance Minerals, Cartersville, Ga., acquired a barium sulfate processing facility in Houston from Halliburton. Cimbar previously operated this facility before Halliburton sold it in 2003 to United Minerals & Properties.

In June 2006, Cimbar Performance Minerals purchased the barium sulfate business from Dynatec, located in Marmora, Ontario, Canada. The Dynatec business has now been folded into all four of Cimbar's U.S. production plants.

In August 2006, Marcy Baugh was hired as director, business development, to manage Cimbar's distributor network and key accounts. In October 2006, Mark Brooks joined the company as Southwest regional marketing manager to develop business for Cimbar's Houston, plant.

This month at the 2006 ICE Show in New Orleans, Cimbar awarded Dar-tech Inc. as Distributor of the Year and MPSI as Distributor With the Largest Sales Increase.

New barium sulfate products and other new products are in the works for 2007, along with additional production facilities.
