HATTIESBURG, MS - The University of Southern Mississippi issued program details for the 27th Annual International Waterborne, High-Solids and Powder Coatings Symposium, scheduled for March 1-3, in New Orleans. The university also has scheduled five coatings short courses in conjunction with the symposium, and a two-day "Technology Showcase" exhibition is also planned.

The symposium gets under way on March 1 with the Plenary Lecture, "Mechanical Properties of Coatings," to be delivered by Loren W. Hill, Solutia Inc. The program will feature a total of 39 technical presentations on a range of coatings-technology subjects, with the program to conclude with the presentation of the Elias Singer Best Paper Award sponsored by Troy Chemical Co.

The two-day short courses will include "The Physical Principles of Formulation," scheduled for Feb. 27-29, and four courses on Feb. 28-29: "Design of Experiments for Coatings Scientists," "Modern Coatings Technology," "Reformulating to Waterborne Coatings," and "Water-Soluble/Water-Borne Polymers."
