BASF Unveils Automotive-Clearcoat Coating Technology
TROY, MI — BASF Corp.’s Industrial Coatings group announced the commercial introduction of Inova, a one-component (1K) proprietary automotive clearcoat system designed for use with solventborne basecoats. The company said the product offers strong performance results in gouge, scratch, mar and etch resistance, in addition to exterior durability comparable to urethane systems. Other attributes include a 1K system’s ease of application, reduced VOC content, and a balance of cost and performance factors, the company said.
Keri Krueger, marketing manager for BASF’s Industrial Coatings group, said the product “provides a large window of opportunity for end uses, an excellent balance of properties, superior performance in production systems, and predictable chemistry.”
