DETROIT - The Detroit Society for Coatings Technology issued a call for papers for the society's 30th annual FOCUS Conference, scheduled for May 5, 2005, at the MSU Management Center, Troy, MI. The conference carries a theme of "Racing to a High-Performance Finish."

Individuals or organizations interested in making presentations at the conference are asked to submit a title and abstract by Nov. 15 to conference chairman David Nordstrom, e-mail jdnordstrom2@iserv.net.

The conference will include two program tracks. Also planned are two tutorials, with Richard Eley of ICI scheduled to conduct a program on rheology and Rose Ryntz of Visteon Corp. to present a program on testing for damage to automotive coatings. The conference also will be accompanied by a "Coatings Showcase" exhibition of industry suppliers.

The 2004 FOCUS Conference drew 240 participants, the Detroit society said.
