Clariant GmbH’s Pigments & Additives Division announced a joint-venture agreement with Songwon Color of South Korea.
Clariant GmbH’s Pigments & Additives Division, Sulzbach, Germany, announced a joint-venture agreement with Songwon Color Ltd. of South Korea, a move that Clariant said will significantly expand its organic pigments production capacity and product range, and provide a major boost to its market share for pigments in Asia. Under the agreement, Clariant will assume worldwide distribution and marketing functions for Songwon Color’s organic pigments. Songwon is a supplier of azo, phthalocyanine and carbazole pigments, and other pigment preparations. Clariant said the venture also gives it pigment-production sites in four Asian countries, including India, China and Japan. The company said the venture provides a major expansion of its product range in the area of phthalo blue and green pigments.
