Paul Allen, a member of the executive committee and previously head ofCognis'Nutrition & Health strategic business unit, took over as group vice president of Functional Products on November 1, 2005. He replaced Guido Willems, who left the company at the end of last year. Allen will seek to further develop Functional Products' market position in a range of industries, including coatings and inks. Allen will remain president ofCognis Corp., USA, headquartered in Cincinnati.

International Paint LLC, Houston, a division of Akzo Nobel, has hired Daryle Anderson to serve as zone manager for Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. A coatings industry veteran for nearly 20 years, Anderson was recruited to support the company's newly opened Chicago Distribution Center, as well as spearhead the company's long-term efforts to expand distribution of its high-performance coatings throughout the Midwestern United States.

The company has also employed David Revay to serve as its newest protective coatings zone manager for the Northeastern United States. A coatings industry veteran for over 24 years, Revay was recruited by International Paint to expand distribution of its high-performance protective coatings throughout the Northeastern areas.

The Supervisory Board of ALTANA Chemie AG, the Chemicals division of ALTANA AG, Wesel, Germany, appointed Martin ¬Babilas as a member of the management board of ALTANA Chemie AG, effective January 1, 2006. Babilas will succeed Gerd Buescher on April 1, 2006, as chief financial officer (CFO). Buescher will focus on his current position as managing director, finance and administration, of the division of Additives & Instruments (BYK-Chemie).

ICI, London, has announced the appointment of Alan J. Brown as chief financial officer. Brown also will be joining the ICI board. Brown joins ICI from Unilever where he has had a distinguished career as a senior finance professional and general manager. Until recently, Brown was executive chairman of Unilever China & Hong Kong. Brown succeeds Tim Scott who tragically died in August 2005.

The Flood Company, Hudson, Ohio, has promoted Gary D. ¬Calhoun to vice president, technology and product development. In his new position, Calhoun will oversee development of new products across the company's entire product line. Prior to joining Flood, he held the position of research and development manager for paint and coatings, and later, product development manager, at Noveon in Brecksville, Ohio. Calhoun also served as product development chemist, and Asia-Pacific technology and marketing manager at NeoResins in Boston. Calhoun joined Flood in 2003 as director of technology.

Malvern Instruments, Worcestershire, U.K., has appointed John Martin to the new role of director of customer services. He joins Malvern having spent more than 10 years in customer service management with Applied Biosystems. Martin will be responsible for all customer services and support activities globally for Malvern Instruments.

TIGER Drylac® Canada Inc., a powder coatings manufacturer based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, has appointed Larry McNeely as its vice president of marketing and sales. With more than 20 years in the powder coatings industry, McNeely's experience in Canada and Europe encompasses management roles ranging from creating new business opportunities to streamlining operations and heading up sales divisions.

Fiberlock Technologies, Inc., Andover, Mass., manufacturer of environmental and restoration products, promoted Cole W. Stanton to vice president of sales and Scott F. DeLeo to director of marketing. Stanton's role will focus on driving both national and international growth and will include overseeing all regional sales managers as well as managing Fiberlock's relationship with its exclusive distributors. DeLeo will oversee all aspects of Fiberlock's marketing programs including advertising, product development, corporate communications, brand management and marketing research.

Andre Weker has been named vice president of the E-Coat Certified Division at EnviroCare Corp., Wilmington, Mass. EnviroCare is a leader in professional and consumer mold-resistant coatings products and systems for new construction. Prior to joining EnviroCare Corp., Weker was an executive with Fiberlock Technologies, Inc. (a subsidiary of California Paint Products) in Andover, Mass.
