MOUNT VERNON, NY — Spraylat Corp. has acquired the assets of The Valspar Corp.’s Mirror Coatings Division in a transaction that allows Valspar to comply with a Federal Trade Commission stipulation related to Valspar’s acquisition of Lilly Industries Inc.

Spraylat, based in Mount Vernon, NY, said it will operate the mirror-coatings business as part of its Hilemn L.L.C. subsidiary, based in Greensboro, NC, and headed by General Manager Dan Kovarik. Spraylat CEO Michael E. Borner said the acquisition represents “a natural expansion for Spraylat,” which focuses on specialty products and emphasizes “technical expertise, high-quality products and strong customer service.” The company said the acquisition allows it to offer a comprehensive mirror-coatings product line, including Sureguard mirror-backing paints and Hilemn silvering solutions. Spraylat is a manufacturer of industrial coatings, including powder, sign, high-solids industrial, conductive, and other coatings.
