SACRAMENTO, CA — The California Air Resources Board’s recently approved suggested control measure (SCM) for architectural coatings is available on the agency’s Web site at www.arb.ca.gov/arch/recent.htm. Also available is the board resolution approving the SCM. The measure, which can be used by regional and local air-quality agencies in the state as a guide in regulating VOC emissions, includes recommended VOC limits on 47 coatings categories, including subcategories. The SCM recommends effective dates of Jan. 1, 2003, for enactment of the VOC limits, except for a date of Jan. 1, 2004, for a 250 g/L limit for industrial-maintenance coatings.
