Merck KGaA announced the appointment of Douglas S. Brown as president and CEO of EM Industries Inc., a supplier of specialty pigments based in Hawthorne, NY. Brown replaces Tom Colclough, who retired June 30.

Dover Chemical Corp. announced a reorganization of the company's sales and marketing operations with a series of appointments. The company named Don G. Chapman Jr. vice president of Marketing, Polyolefins and Functional Additives; Charles W. Fletcher vice president of Marketing, PVC Additives and Metallic Stearates; William M. Hood director of Sales; James G. MacNeil Jr. business unit manager, Halogenated Products and Functional Additives; Robert A. Hendriks Southwest Regional Sales manager; Damon S. Stevenson Southeast Regional Sales manager; and Roger B. Schoepfle Regional Sales manager for the Midwest and western states.

Joe Davis has joined Tnemec Co. Inc. as director of Technical Services, with responsibility for management of the company's technical-service representatives and technical-support functions involving independent sales representatives and customers.

Tony Mazzarella, Bayer Corp.'s business manager of Powder Coating Intermediates and Colorants, was elected president of the Powder Coating Institute for the 2002-2003 fiscal year during the institute's recent annual meeting. Steve Houston of DuPont Powder Coatings USA was elected vice president, and Ken Kreeger of Nordson Corp. was elected secretary-treasurer. Barry Keating, PPG industries Inc., was elected to the institute's board of directors. Alan Ross, vice president and technical director of Kop-Coat Inc., has been elected president of the American Wood-Preservers' Association. Pittsburgh-based Kop-Coat, a unit of RPM Inc., is a producer of preservatives and protective coatings for lumber, millwork and wood-based composites.

Maroon Inc., Avon, OH, has named Michael Maroon CEO, Mark Reichard president and chief operating officer and Mark Maroon chief Technology officer. Maroon Inc. is a distributor of coatings raw materials and packaging.

PPG Industries Inc. presented its President's Award for Technical Achievement to four key contributors to advances in the company's electrodeposition-coatings technologies, The award was presented to Steve Zawacky and Bob Zwack of the company's Allison Park, PA, coatings research center and Mike Polack and Victor Corrigan at PPG's Cleveland coatings facility.
